1/ Tissue paper pom-poms

Paper pom-poms are becoming one of the most popular ways to decorate for an engagement party or a wedding. They are super-easy to make and bring colour and fun to any special event. These pom-poms can be made in a huge range of sizes, in one colour or lots of colours, the options are really endless! And the best part – they are very cheap to make. 2/  Homemade confetti

Making your own confetti is as simple as cutting up lots of colourful paper, or if your ceremony is outside and you don’t want to pick up paper from all over the lawn, use flower petals (dried or fresh).

3/ Newspaper favour bags

Make your own favour bags out of newspaper and paper doilies and then fill them with lollies you and your fiancé love. Yum!

4/ Old books

If you’re a booklover and want to save on table centrepieces, get creative by arranging your favourite books as table centrepieces. Not only is this a great way to incorporate a little bit of your own personality into the reception, but it will also be a great conversation starter for your guests, especially if they don’t know each other.

5/ Photos in mason jars

We love mason jars, and there are countless ways you can use them for creating awesome wedding décor! However, one our favourite ways to use them is by putting photos inside and dotting them around your reception area. Perfect if you’re going for a vintage or rustic look.

6/ Tulle chair covers

Chair covers are always a huge added expense to the cost of the reception. But you can actually make your own quite cheaply! Buy your own tulle and tie it in bows behind the chairs and then add a touch of lavender (or your choice of flower) to make your chair covers unique.

7/ Brooch bouquet

If you adore vintage then why not collect brooches from family members and op shops to create the most unique, beautiful and sentimental bouquet? And the best part – you’ll be able to keep it to show your grandchildren one day!

8/ Sweets table

To create your own sweet or lolly table, start collecting jars, funky plates and cups, etc… as soon as you get engaged. Use card to make your own cute signs of what each sweet is, and make or buy paper goodie bags for your guests to collect sweets in. This is a fantastic way to entertain your guests and will be sure to go down as a hit!

9/ Wildflowers in jars and bottles

You don’t have to buy the most expensive flowers or vases to create gorgeous table centrepieces. Ask your family and friends for a range of different glass jars and bottles and then collect flowers from the side of the road, your garden, or a field to arrange in multi-coloured and rustic arrangements.
