It’s been a long time since you’ve dressed up in a glittery fairy dress, but trust us, sparkles have grown-up with you! Glitter is modern, feminine and very on trend for the upcoming wedding season. So why not incorporate small accents into your day to add a touch of glam or take the plunge and use glittering gold or sparkling silver as one of your main colours themes. It’s not a celebration without a little sparkle!
1. Make Your Invitations Shine
Invites are the first peak your guests get at your theme and glittery invitations will really set the mood for a party. Include sparkly details on the invitation itself or pick envelopes with lined with glitter paper. But don’t surprise your guests with loose glitter in the envelopes; no one wants to clean up that mess!
2. Dress it Up
Channel old Hollywood glamour with a grownup glittery gown for you or your bridesmaids. Art Deco and 1920s style dresses lend themselves perfectly to a bit of sparkle. Wrap your waist with a sparkly ribbon or cover your shoulders with a shimmery bolero.
3. Stylish Shoes
Unexpected shoes add a bit of fun into a traditional look. Go all out with a gold sequined pair or keep it a bit more subtle with shimmery accents on the heels. Flower girls look particularly cute in glittery ballet flats.
4. Glitter Art
Nail art is still on trend and it’s a subtle way to make you’re look a little more playful. Silver glitter is great with a French polish. A gold glitter accent nail looks great against a neutral pink manicure, and accentuates your new bling.
5. Fancy Desserts
Food is not excused from sparkly embellishments. Make your cake stand out with a dusting of edible glitter dust. If that’s not your thing, what about glittery hearts as cake toppers? At the end of your night send guests home with a piece of the masterpiece in glittery favour boxes.
6. Floral Accents
Add sparkle to your bouquet or other floral arrangements by wrapping them with a glittery ribbon. Include sparkly accents with a few glitter dipped petals, leaves or feathers. Put your floral centre pieces in clear vases filled with water and glitter – gorgeous!
7. Showered in Glitter
Forget the rice, confetti or petals, hand out little pouches of sequins with the programmes for the guests to bless the new married couple with after the service. It adds a truly magical touch to the pictures.
Tip: Use sequins to avoid washing glitter out of your hair for days on end!
8. Make Your Décor Shine!
From place cards to table cloths, you can keep the theme as subtle or extravagant as you want. Glittery table numbers, scattered diamantes, and sequined table runners are great for a subtle sparkle. If you decide to go all out with a sequined table cloth make sure the rest of your elements are simple to help keep things balanced.
9. Spell it Out
Block letters look great on the bridal table or dessert buffet and they’re easy to make yourself! Buy letters made out of either wood or cardboard, brush on a layer of glue and cover in glitter. Use your initials, Mr & Mrs or even L O V E.
10. A Sparkly Send Off
If you’re leaving your reception after sunset make the most of the dark and have your guests send you off with sparklers! Heaps of fun for young and old, ask your photographer to stay to the end you as you won’t want to miss these pictures.
