The Auckland region is bursting with beautiful, gram-worthy locations. Within an hour's drive, you'll find rugged rock faces, dramatic shorelines, dormant volcanos and endless sunset spots.

Though there is no shortage of incredible photoshoot locations, it takes asking the experts to know where to find them.

Naturally, that's what we did.

We asked legendary local wedding photographers to share their favourite photogenic locations in Auckland, and boy, did they deliver!

Whether you want an aesthetic backdrop to pop the question, capture your engagement/wedding photos or simply snap some pics for the gram - let this handy little list of beautiful locations inspire you.

North Head, Devonport

One of Auckland's most picturesque spots, as recommended by Rebecca Bradley.

North Head is a dormant volcano located at the eastern end of the Waitematā Harbour in the suburb of Devonport.

"There are stunning 360° views of Auckland, and it's extra magical at sunset!".

Hamilton's Gap

Daniel from Dear White Productions really spilled the tea with this one!

Home to the highest sand dunes in Auckland, Hamilton's Gap is a wild western beach located on the Āwhitu Peninsula.

"Hamilton's Gap is a secluded beach without too many people. Sunsets are beautiful as it's west-facing, and the steep cliffs are absolutely gorgeous."

Piha Beach

The lovely Ioana from Selea Photography loves to shoot at Piha Beach.

"Piha Beach has many scenic options, and it's easy to find empty spaces on the big beach. At low tide, you can access even more epic spots!"

When asked to share their favourite locations, several photographers gave the same answer - Muriwai. It's unanimous. West is best!

Zahn shares, "Muriwai has cliffs, raging waves crashing into rock banks, expansive views, golden West-facing sunsets, the forestry area with streams, toitoi bushes, and mature pine forests, and the black sand on the beach itself is iconic and photographs beautifully."

"There's a good variety with the forest close by, nice and flat coastal rocky areas to walk on and the moody beaches at sunset time!". - Ryan Watts

"The best sunsets and rocks ever." - Nayzel from Feature Weddings

Chris + Tenille from The Nostalgists love Waiheke Island's Tantalus Estate!

"The buildings and grounds offer a lot of variety. You can get a wide style and range of photos, and there's a spot or scene for every event. Whether it's an eclectic, intimate wedding with the onsite brewery as your backdrop or a relaxed outdoor ceremony next to the native greenery - you're covered. And covered well."
