On June 6th, the brightest and bubbliest of the events industry came together to raise a glass at one of Auckland’s most fabulous venues, Glasshouse Morningside, and celebrate the launch of our nationwide venue guide, New Zealand Venues.

New Zealand Venues (NZV) is a brand new concept for the New Zealand event industry, offering detailed venue profiles and stunning event showcases. With 250 guests, including venue managers, event planners and suppliers in the mix, NZV was introduced with a bang.

PS I Love You’s Astrid Braid worked closely with the Fable team to create this unique and unforgettable event. She sheds some light on her approach to event styling, and the challenges of creating an event like the NZV launch.

“Every event should be built from the ground up, designed to maximise the space you are working with. Larger spaces can be problematic when trying to create intimate events such as the NZV launch party.”

“When we visited the Glasshouse, we quickly realised that the generous height of the glass ceiling acted as the hero factor within the space. To ensure we capitalised on this aspect, we conceptualised with La Lumiere: floor to ceiling silk drapes that drew the eye all the way upwards from ground level, also creating the softness and intimacy we required at ground level.”

“It is so important when designing an event to notice your surroundings at all levels and ensure each element compliments the next. In areas with generous space and plenty of open flooring, there is scope to add extra detail. For the NZV event, we came up with the concept of a large floor decal which Darby and Grey executed, leading guests into the Glasshouse.”

“Wanting to capitalise more on the dizzying heights within the space, we worked with Lunar Balloons to design a larger than life balloon display. This not only created clever depth and intimacy, but also led the eye to the decadent gold mirrored bar that took pride of place, framed by a suspended neon sign incorporating a portion of the floor decal quote."
