Deciding to include your pets in your wedding doesn’t just mean having your furry friends underfoot while the humans go about their day. There are a myriad of ways to incorporate your pets into some of the formal aspects of the day, as well as in many informal moments. Some of the many perks of having your pets around include the incomparable cute factor, their de-stressing effects in the hours pre-ceremony, and the personalised touch they bring (not to mention personality!) to the wedding photography. All in all, we think pets can make your wedding infinitely better both on and off the camera - here are some images that demonstrate perfectly why.

Detail photographs of the bride and grooms’ choices in shoes, perfume/cologne, jewellery, and other accessories are one of the classic images your photographer will take on your wedding day. By and large, most couples’ detail photographs look pretty similar, but having your beloved pet in the shot is a fantastic way to make these images personal to you.

Nerves can run high in the hours leading up to the ceremony, but your furry friends will help keep you calm (or at the very least distract you from your nerves with their adorable faces).

And if you’re not doing first look photos, then who better to spend time taking photos with than your loyal furry companion(s)?

One of the many effective uses of wedding signage (https://www.aucklandweddings.co.nz/how-signage-can-make-your-wedding-better)
includes bringing a touch of humour to the celebrations. Signs like ‘My Humans Are Getting Married’ and ‘I Loved Her First’ are sweet ways of including your pets in the day and bringing a smile to your guests’ faces.

It’s a growing trend for your bridal team to carry puppies down the aisle instead of your typical bouquet. It certainly makes for a more dynamic, captivating entrance.

But if multiple animals are a bit too much to deal with, having just one furry friend for the bride to carry is a fantastic choice, too.

Your pets will help you relax in front of the camera, and bring out your most authentic selves which is something invaluable to capture on your wedding day.

And (in case it hasn’t been mentioned before), pets are very very cute in weddings.
