Amy & Tom,
Gold Coast, Australia

Can you tell us a bit about your love story?

"We met through mutual friends and ended up living on the same street. After 12 months of dating, we quit our jobs, packed up our life and went travelling in a van for 6 months. This certainly brought us closer and made us 1000% sure of each other. 3 months after getting back, Tom proposed on the beach at sunrise with a picnic set up and our two sausage dogs as witnesses."

What were the non-negotiables for your wedding?

"Iconic dresses, a great venue and a talented photographer and videographer."

About those dresses! Can you tell us about them?

"Ever since I was little, I have loved fashion and testing the limits of what looks good and what doesn't. I've never been one to be simple, so for me, more is more when dressing up.

I have dreamt of my wedding for a very long time and always thought about what my dress would look like. I knew I wanted lace, sleeves, sparkle, sexy, elegant flowers, a full skirt but also a tight skirt, something I could dance in and something grand and statuesque.

Of course, all of these things don't fit into one dress. I managed to find my dream ceremony dress at Ella Moda. I had the BEST experience with them and I cannot fault their service from start to finish. However, I struggled to find exactly what I was looking for for the next two dresses.

I designed my party dress pretty quickly and easily, and it followed through so nicely when I put it all together.

The second was more challenging, I had no idea what to do here. I knew I wanted sexy and sparkle. I draped ideas on my mannequin for weeks and eventually settled on the design.

I added some fun texture with the handmade organza florals and was very happy with the result.

I made the bridesmaid dresses as well - I changed the design three times so I probably ended up making 12 dresses!"

What is one thing that surprised you?

"Just how much love you actually feel on the day. Although you have all your friends and family around, everyone really is there to make you feel the best and contribute to your perfect day. I have never felt happier and more loved."

What advice would you share with other couples beginning their wedding planning journey?

"Do your research on your vendors! Having reliable vendors is so important and helps ease the stress."
