Where did it all begin for you two?

"We met on a date in Brisbane, over a few drinks — and the rest is history. He was living in Sydney at the time and I was in Brisbane, but we quickly found ourselves spending more and more time together. Before long, we took the leap, moved to Sydney and started building a life together. What began as one date and a few drinks turned into something so much more."

What was a must have for your wedding day?

"For us, the day was never just about us — it was about bringing our favourite people together and celebrating as one. Seeing our friends and family dancing, laughing, eating and drinking, and truly soaking up the day, made it feel completely us. Of course, we couldn't resist adding a few personal touches too: a sweet treat station filled with all our favourite Kiwi goodies, and a little nod to our fur baby, who couldn't be there but still made an appearance on top of our wedding cake."

What was the best investment you made for your big day?

"For us, the best investment was the venue — but it was truly made worthwhile by the amazing events coordinator we had on the day. We also loved the draping and chandeliers that beautifully transformed the space, creating the romantic, luxe atmosphere we were after, but having someone so incredible managing everything was invaluable. With terrible weather, a drenched bridal party and unexpected delays, she kept everything running smoothly and took care of all the little things that popped up, allowing us to relax and enjoy every moment."

What caught you off guard – in the best or most unexpected way?

"Despite the horrible weather, we were determined to have an outdoor garden party, so having to embrace the wet-weather option was definitely unexpected. In the end, though, it turned out to be such a beautiful surprise. Everyone embraced it, had an amazing time, and somehow the rain even made for some gorgeous, atmospheric photos. It wasn't quite what we had planned, but it ended up being a really special part of the day."

What advice would you pass on to other couples just getting started?

"Our biggest advice is to really enjoy the day and take a moment to soak it all in. Even if it's just five or ten minutes, step away together, look around at everyone celebrating with you and take it all in — the day goes by incredibly fast. And don't stress over the little things. No matter how much you plan, something will inevitably go differently on the day, but somehow it all works out. Let go, embrace it and enjoy the beautiful day you've created together."
