Brooke and James
Flaxmere House

"James and I met at Bethells Beach. We had a few drinks with family and friends, chatting and dancing, when we were introduced to one another. At that moment, we just knew we were meant for each other. Five years later, we travelled up to Whangarei for the bar opening of a friend. It was July 3rd, 2020, and James popped the question on our anniversary! We ended up being engaged for eighteen months as we planned our special day. My family owns a gorgeous wedding venue, Flaxmere House, at Bethells Beach, so choosing a location was easy. Bethells Beach means so much to us because it’s where we both grew up, our families live, and we met one another. We wanted a warm, summery wedding to appreciate the weather and the outdoors - with amazing photo opportunities, of course. The theme of the day was vintage, rustic and beachy. For our special touch, we added our own cocktails for an hour for our guests and named them after us. Our favourite part has to be because of our French bulldog, Harley. He was like a model in every photo without telling him to pose! We’re so grateful we had so much coverage of the day, with both photography and videography. We highly recommend doing the same! Spend the money, so you always have all those important moments to look back on. The whole experience was fantastic, relaxed and in touch with nature. Even our guests were at total ease, with the ceremony being the highlight of the day."
