Christa & Jason

"We were first introduced through mutual friends in 2019; we were told we were two peas in a pod and would make a perfect match. They were right - we became official in 2021. After 2 years, Jase proposed early one beautiful morning off the coast of Motuihe Island on our boat alongside our dog Hank. Very romantic and very us!"

What was one non-negotiable for your wedding?

"We had three: good food, a relaxed venue and a live saxophonist."

What do you consider the best investment you made, and why?

"Our photographer, Ash Muir. She is so talented and captured authentic memories of the day with such style. The end product was amazing, we created a printed album and some large format prints for the house....it was so hard to choose as there were so many incredible pictures."

Did you include anything non-traditional in your wedding?

"We didn't do a sit-down dinner; we did roaming food throughout the night, allowing us and our guests to mingle and dance, not being stuck in one place."

What is one thing that surprised you?

"How quickly the day goes, people tell you to stop and take it all in - but I hadn't realised how quickly!"

What advice would you share with other couples beginning their wedding planning journey?

"Pick three priorities you want or think your guests will enjoy and focus on nailing those. Build a comprehensive budget with a contingency - then stick to it. We included everything down to the ribbon on the bouquets. Then you are left with no surprises and get to enjoy your last few weeks leading up to the wedding without money stress. You don't need to follow the norm or what everyone else is doing. Florals were something I didn't see value in, they die and cannot be reused. I bought a small amount from the flower market and did them with our decorations throughout the venue."
