Jodie and Stefan

"Jodie found me through the magic of Google! She said she had pondered over it, then commented that she wanted a simple wedding dress for her beach wedding. When she came in for her initial consultation, we immediately clicked! In that moment, I knew we could give her the dress of her dreams. Actually, she felt so comfortable and safe in our hands that she placed an order that very same day. We discussed the dressmaking process in a lot of detail, after which she was so enthralled that she insisted on her mother getting one made, too! Rebecca, her mom, wanted a beautiful, soft pink A-line dress from linen, which was such a delight to make. For Jodie's dress, she specifically only wanted her dress to be made out of natural fabrics. After showing her several different natural fibres, she ended up choosing stunning brushed cotton. We sketched her design and made sure she was happy with everything we discussed before continuing onto the mock-up stage. Her vision was a bodice containing deep V front and back necklines that gathered around her waist, which then flowed into an A-line skirt with a high slit. Jodie very much wanted to enhance her bust through her dress, hence the deep V front neckline. She said that was her hubby's favourite part about her... we had good laughs at her fittings making this happen for her. She then purchased an embellished belt from Astra Bridal that we hand-sewed onto the waistline. As it was a beach wedding, she didn't want a train on her dress, so it was all floor length. She decided on wearing foot jewellery rather than shoes, so we helped her find some gorgeous ones online. We had never made a bridal dress from cotton before, so this was a happy first! It's always nice doing something different because if another bride wants to use only natural fabrics in the future, we have something to showcase. The dress wasn't tricky in terms of construction, but it creased pretty quickly due to being made from cotton, so we had to steam it constantly. Thankfully, this wasn't too much of an issue on the day because of the beach setting. The wind flowing through her dress was sublime as well as helpful!"
