Take us back to the start, how did you meet?

“It started how all good romances start — on Tinder! We were talking and both figured out we had type 1 diabetes. We instantly connected over this, and the rest was history!”

Who helped bring your day to life?

“Special shout out to Emma Marshall, our main photographer, who has such a fun and relaxed style about her that made us feel totally at ease. She worked alongside Lavender Clark, our Christchurch-based film photographer, so effortlessly. I would highly recommend both Emma and Lavender for future weddings!”

What was the best investment you made for your day?

“Having an amazing group of women and men beside us, helping the day run smoothly. Having an amazing, relaxed team helped the day flow nicely with minimal stress!”

What was your take on tradition?

“Our wedding had some cool twists, such as the voting for our last name. We also had games, no seated meal, just burgers and taco food trucks, slushies and a bouncy castle! We did have some traditional elements too — my father still walked me down the aisle in a white dress, which was very special.”

What advice would you give to couples just starting their wedding planning journey?

“It’s so important to enjoy the process. Don’t get caught up in the small things — they don’t matter! Getting married to the love of your life and having everyone there to celebrate is the most important thing. No one remembers the colour of the napkins!”

If you can narrow it down, what part of your day felt most special?

“We loved the relaxed nature of the day. We had a bouncy castle and food trucks, with no set time for dinner. We played games! We even had a vote jar for the guests to vote on which last name we should take.”

What caught you off guard, in the best or most unexpected way?

“My now-husband, Connor, had been getting singing lessons without me knowing. Towards the end of the night, in front of everyone, he sang a really special song to me and my dad, which led to an impromptu father-daughter dance. It was the most beautiful thing!”
