How did your story begin?

“We matched on Tinder and arranged to meet for a drink at a pub in Kingsland. The conversation flowed so easily that we ended up chatting for more than six hours. It was clear we had a real connection, so we kept dating over the following months, and our relationship blossomed into a beautiful partnership.”

What is an aspect of your wedding that encapsulated you as a couple?

“We’ve been living in Melbourne for the past four years, so coming home to New Zealand to get married surrounded by all of our family and friends was incredibly special. Our venue was set in a stunning location and provided the perfect backdrop for our day and all of our photos.”

What part of the day or planning felt like your best investment?

“All of the DIY details we created together. We’re so lucky to have incredibly talented friends and family, and everyone pitched in to help make the day happen.

Savannah’s dad made our wedding rings, her maid of honour created all of the florals, and a close family friend was our celebrant as well as our cake maker! Our families also helped bring everything together on the day.

Savannah is a graphic designer, so she designed all of our signage and stationery, and even hand-made her own veil. So much time, love, and effort went into every detail, and we were so proud of how it all came together.”

Is there anything unconventional that you incorporated into your day?

“Straight after the ceremony, we disappeared for 10 minutes together before joining our guests. It was honestly one of the best decisions we made. The ceremony was really emotional, and because we’re both introverts, we knew we’d feel a little overwhelmed afterwards. Sitting together with a glass of champagne, taking in the fact that we had just gotten married, was such a special moment. After that, we were ready to head back out and celebrate with everyone.”

What caught you off guard, in the best or most unexpected way?

“How smoothly everything came together! We were convinced something would go wrong, but everything ran exactly as we had hoped.

Having all of our favourite people together in one place was also incredibly special, and it's a memory we'll treasure forever.”

Any advice you'd pass on to other couples just getting started?

“Enjoy the time you spend planning together. It's such a special season of life, and it's important to remember why you're getting married in the first place.

Planning can feel overwhelming with so many moving parts, and it's easy to get caught up in tiny details that won't really matter in the end. Trust that your day will come together beautifully, and enjoy the love bubble while it lasts.”
