Lauren & Thomas,
Markovina Vineyard Estate
"When Tom proposed a year ago, it was a true surprise. He took me to the beach in Whangamata on Christmas Day 2022 and set up a picnic blanket, champagne, rose petals, etc. He had written me a letter, which he asked me to read out loud while he got down on one knee and proposed. It was one of the best days of my life."
What was one non-negotiable for your wedding?
"Espresso martinis!"
What do you consider the best investment you made, and why?
"I would say our photography/videography team, we felt super comfortable with them on the day and now we have beautiful photos and videos from our day to keep forever."
Did you include anything non-traditional in your wedding?
"We shared private vows with our first look, which was a really special part of our day. It allowed us to be 100% comfortable and say everything we wanted to each other without the stress of an audience as I struggled to talk in front of crowds. We did shortened vows in front of our guests still, during the ceremony."
What is one thing that surprised you?
"The attention to detail that is required on the timeline for each vendor to ensure everything feels seamless and effortless on the day."
What advice would you share with other couples beginning their wedding planning journey?
"Figure out what is most important to you as a couple and start there. There are so many decisions to be made, which can feel overwhelming, but figuring out your priorities early on can streamline things a bit and keep you focused on what is really important."
