“We’re not your typical love story. We weren’t looking for love—just living our lives and playing mobile COD. That’s how we met. Months later, Toni drove from Hamilton to Auckland for our first date and from then on, we were inseparable.

Toni proposed on my birthday, after we’d received devastating news that my younger brother had been diagnosed with cancer. We rushed to Auckland to be with him and my mum. That night, Toni got down on one knee in front of them both. We cried, laughed and shared a moment we’ll never forget.

Now, a year and a half later, we’re married, and my brother is one year NED (no evidence of disease). We’ve come so far, and we’re so grateful to have this moment to cherish forever.”

What was one non-negotiable for your wedding?

“Choosing the right vendors. We didn’t want just anyone—we wanted people we could trust and connect with. We met with so many before locking in our dream team. It made all the difference.”

What do you consider the best investment you made, and why?

“Our vendors again! They were reliable, respectful, budget-conscious and genuinely had our backs. From the breathtaking venue (Abel Estate) to the thoughtful styling, exceptional photography and supportive coordination—it was a dream team who went above and beyond.”

What’s one thing that surprised you?

“How fast the day went. People warned us, but nothing prepares you for how quickly it truly flies.”

Did you include anything non-traditional in your wedding?

“Yes—though traditional in Pasifika weddings. I surprised Toni with a Tauʻolunga (Tongan dance), wearing custom Tongan attire made by his family. We also had other traditional Samoan and Tongan dances performed by loved ones.”

What advice would you share with other couples?

“Don’t rush. Take your time, enjoy the process and don’t let the stress overshadow the fun. You only plan your dream wedding once—make it count.”
