Megan & Paul

"As many modern love stories begin, we met online.

We both were mesmerised by each others' life stories and how at ease we felt with one another.

From the moment we met, we both knew it was special.

While we had conversations about getting married, the proposal came as a complete surprise for me (Megan).

Paul organised a romantic weekend away in Waiheke, where he popped the question. It was very romantic and very surprising."

What was one non-negotiable for your wedding?

"Paul's only absolute was we needed to be married by the sea."

What do you consider the best investment you made, and why?

"The dress! Long after I forget the pain of the expense, we will remember the gorgeous dress, plus the photos are forever."

What is one thing that surprised you?

"My photographer gave me great advice to organise every single detail ahead of the day and leave absolutely nothing till the day except being beautiful. Even following this great advice, so many little details still needed my attention. Luckily, I had a great team that got all the work done as per my instructions."

What advice would you share with other couples beginning their wedding planning journey?

"Get the small details out of the way early. They seem to take the most time. Have a wedding in the winter. it's so much more comfortable and predictable. Having the wedding indoors, where the weather didn't matter, was great - no one was melting in the hot sun, and we had more flexibility with venue availability."
