How did your story begin?

“We met through a mutual friend just as we were coming out of lockdown. She was having birthday drinks at the Viaduct, and we both went along knowing there was a possibility we might meet someone. It turned out to be perfect.”

What part of your wedding felt most true to you as a couple?

“We loved our wedding day. It was one big cocktail-style party surrounded by all of our friends and family. The trays of McDonald’s cheeseburgers served on the dance floor at 10pm were also a huge hit!”

What was the best investment you made for the day?

“Will pulled together our wedding in just two months, which was incredibly fast - from booking the venue to sending out invitations and organising the catering. We loved already knowing our photographer, Amy, who was brilliant and made everything feel so natural. The band we hired was also a real highlight of the day.”

Did you put your own twist on any traditions, or break a few entirely?

“Yes, we did. We decided to have our photos taken before the ceremony, which turned out to be a great decision. It meant we could share our first moment seeing each other in private, and we were also able to get all of our family photos done beforehand. By the time the ceremony started, there were far fewer nerves. It was also wonderful not having to leave our guests afterwards, so we could fully enjoy the venue, food and drinks with everyone.”

What surprised you in the best way?

“The speeches from Rhys’ older children were incredibly heartfelt and beautiful.”

What advice would you give to couples just starting their wedding planning?

“Make sure the day reflects what you want. You don’t have to follow tradition or fit the norm. We loved that our wedding truly reflected who we are as a couple.”
