Take us back to where it all started, how did you meet?

“We met through mutual friends and would see each other reasonably regularly. The turning point was when we went on a trip around Europe together. Greg stayed on to travel for longer, and the wait to see each other again felt harder than expected. That’s how we knew we had something special.”

What was the best investment you made for your wedding?

“Finding vendors we really got on with and trusted was one of the best decisions we made. Our photographer, hair and makeup team, and Mudbrick wedding coordinator were all incredible, and having the right people around us meant we could relax and be more present.

Our celebrant was also a close family friend, which made the ceremony feel especially personal. We ended up creating our own signage too, which became such a special part of the day. Seeing all the little details we’d made ourselves come together was incredibly rewarding and made the wedding feel even more personal.”

What was your take on traditions?

“We kept speeches to a minimum and swapped one of the traditional speeches for the Shoe Game, which one of my bridesmaids ran. It ended up being such a fun part of the reception!

We also chose to do a first look before the ceremony instead of seeing each other for the first time at the aisle. It meant we had a special moment just the two of us before everything began, and it helped settle any nerves before the ceremony.”

What aspect of your day caught you off guard?

“How quickly the day goes! We were also blown away by how many of our friends and family travelled to celebrate with us. Having so many of our favourite people in one place felt incredibly special, and it’s something we’ll never forget.”

What was a non-negotiable that made the day extra special?

“Without a doubt, having our dog Rufus there. He’s such a huge part of our lives, so we couldn’t imagine celebrating without him.

We also loved having a champagne tower during cocktail hour. It brought such a fun, celebratory energy to the day following the ceremony, and gave everyone an excuse for an extra glass of bubbles.”

What advice would you share with other couples just getting started?

“It sounds cliché, but remember that it’s your day. You don’t have to include traditions that don’t feel like you, and you definitely don’t have to make decisions just to keep other people happy.

Also, enjoy the process! Don’t get too stressed about the little details, but do make sure you lock in your key vendors early. After that, the smaller details will fall into place.”
