Steph and Bronson
Kauri Bay Boomrock

“Bronson and I were just teenagers when we met through friends at Cornwall Park and started hanging out. After hanging out for a little over a year and becoming incredibly good friends, Bronson asked me out. The years that came after were filled with lots of fun and adventures, like road trips, camping around the country and travelling overseas. It was on the way back from Coachella that Bronson decided he was ready to propose. We love hiking, and a few days after getting back from the Great Barrier Reef, we decided to hike up the Pinnacles. It was important to Bronson that we got engaged and married in New Zealand, and he thought this would be the perfect opportunity to propose. So, with the ring secretly tucked away in his backpack, we headed for the peak. Bronson made sure we passed everyone on our way up, so we had the top to ourselves when he popped the question. Kauri Bay Boomrock was the first venue that I showed Bronson. We both instantly loved it. It was important that our ceremony would have a beautiful view and that the venue we selected would have fantastic photography locations with both woodland and open grassy areas. Because Kauri Bay Boomrock is set in such a stunning location with panoramic views of the sea, we wanted to keep the styling clean and sophisticated with a rustic hint to enhance the natural beauty around us. We opted for floral garlands with seed lights hanging from the ceiling beams and over the arch. Bronson’s mum is from Aitutaki, so for a surprise to her and the rest of the family, we performed a Cook Island dance in traditional costume. Bronson’s aunt and sister were instrumental in helping us pull off this surprise; his aunt selected a Cook Island love song and then created a choreographed dance for us on top of organising our costumes. Our big day went seamlessly, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day celebrating with family and friends.”
