Salt of the Earth: a Shoot Inspired by the Seas
By Raashka Mannie
“Salt” was inspired by the forms and shapes found on the beautiful black sand shores and rugged rock features of Piha. This backdrop sets the inspiration for a coastal-inspired celebration of an untamed romance with the sea. Every aspect is styled here with a light feel filled with organic features, natural textures and luxe remnants found on these shores, to include: oyster shells, florals with succulents, toi toi and sand. All of which, are beautifully juxtapositioned against cool-hued glassware and dark brassware. A pinch of eclecticism, seen with tipped vases of draping florals as table centrepieces, and tableware mixed and matched to create interesting forms and shapes inspired by the sea for a dreamy, romantic dessert table. All details are tied together with the element of “Salt” – to represent the purity of a couple’s love and a real celebration of our beachy shores. Every aspect is thought to create the perfect ambience for any couple in search of romance with a real love for the sea. This very authentic and creative styled shoot is captured by the brilliant Bethany Howarth, featuring talented and experienced Auckland vendors such as DU Soirée Weddings & Events, Lila Rose Floral Co., Serenity Makeup, Daughters of July, Cherry Cake Company and The Pretty Prop Shop.
