Stonyridge Vineyard, Waiheke Island
We met at age 17 in our last year of high school at a mutual friend's birthday event. I was initially attracted to Robbie's easy-going and calm nature, and he was attracted to what he describes as my magnetism and charm. After 5 years together he proposed after a helicopter ride at the top of North Head, amongst chocolate and a home made picnic. Absolute perfection!
Our venue at Stonyridge had a classical charm about it which we maintained in the theme and decor. We made a lot of the decorations ourselves, so they had a rustic, home-made feel. Our colour palate, cake and bouquet arrangements were all in soft pastels. We loved being amongst the vines and olive groves, it created a gorgeous countryside atmosphere.
1/ Our first look photographs on the jetty down at Rocky Bay was a beautiful and memorable moment, as it was the first time we saw each other that day. 2/ Walking down the aisle with both of my parents and loved ones in the wedding party ahead of me, including the flower girl who dumped the remainder of her petal basket when she reached the end of the aisle! 3/ At the end of the night we were driven to our accommodation in the winery work truck as there were no taxi's available.
The advice I would give myself is to take each step with patience, not only with the people around you, but also with yourself. At the end of the day what matters is the person waiting at the other end of the aisle for you. It is about relationships and the support of the people you love who are standing by you every step of the way.
