Kumeu Valley Estate, Kumeu
I was up in Auckland for a girls night out, when I saw Tulson across the pub and decided to go and dance near him. He actually was interested in my friend but she was interested in his friend! One thing led to another and here we are. The proposal - he came home from work said he "had to check on something up in the roof" - unbeknownst to me that is where he hid the ring! We were on our way out to Mission Bay for dinner when he decided to change plans - we were heading for Pt Chev beach for a picnic - the grey clouds started coming over, we had no picnic rug, no cups or plates (I was desperate for a wine!). We ended up getting fish n chips, a bottle of wine and some plastic cups. He proposed on the beach, it was just perfect!
We were planning for a rustic style wedding with bright colours brought in via the flowers. I wanted bright aqua bridesmaid dresses (which i couldn't find anywhere in NZ or online - on a holiday in bali we happened to walk past a dress makers shop which had the exact material I was after so we got them made 2 days before leaving the country!). I was also after a bright, vibrant, hand-picked, messy look for the flowers - nothing too perfect. The venue was absolutely stunning, everyone at the venue was so accommodating to our wishes and nothing was too much of a bother. The weather held out so we managed to get married down at the pergola which was just beautiful, and topped off the beauty with the AMAZING floral arrangements.
1/ As the girls arrived to the ceremony one of the groomsmen leant over towards the groom and whispered "the eagle has landed" which was caught on camera and in our wedding video! 2/ Tulson (the groom) absolutely balled his eyes out from the moment the girls arrived at the venue until i got to him. 3/ Our first dance - we had been to 3 lessons prior and learnt a dance, on the night I forgot a few steps and my shoe almost completely fell off - no one could see due to my dress length thank goodness!
I would tell myself to plan things how you want them to be - don't ask too many people for opinions, as you know what you want and at the end of the day its yours and your partners day! Enjoy every single minute of the day and absorb as much as you can because it goes by SO fast!
