Styled Shoot: Hollywood Glitz and Glamour

Taking a page out of the classics, be it Audrey Hepburn or Elizabeth Taylor, this styled shoot was all about the Hollywood glamour of old. The setting was the original Auckland Heritage Grand Central Railway Station building (established in 1930), with Platform 8 Restaurant providing the perfect backdrop. Framed by brick and granite, this is truly a classic piece of New Zealand architecture: gracefully high and beautifully designed ceilings, with large, granite pillars standing tall and proud, and a sprawling, glossy marble floor design at your feet. There was no more perfect a place for our styled shoot, so steeped in history and charm. Our beautiful bride donned a simple and elegant gown by Margaret Wray Bridal. The bodice featured a low cowl back and draped gracefully with its heavily-beaded lace. The ‘Lily’ gown boasted an elongated, heavy silk satin skirt, small cap sleeves, and a high front neck, creating an even balance of demure and sleek in one outfit.

The glamour wave and flawless makeup completed the stylish Hollywood look that we were aiming for. With the groom in an equally snazzy suit, complete with the 1930s vibe to match the bride, the aesthetic of the couple effortlessly fell into place. The shoot brims with elegant details to synchronise with our vision, from timeless colours to luscious florals. The tablescape featured a colour palette of blush, cream and lilac with antique gold accents, bordered by an impressive backdrop. Even the cake, courtesy of Bluebells Cakery, was in a soft blush that underlined the elegance of the shoot. We pieced together this shoot with a certain ambience in mind, best summarised by the immortal words of Hepburn herself: “Life is a party. Dress like it.” We are so thankful that this talented group of creatives came together to present this classic shoot, showcasing a fresh and modern take on the style of one of the most romantic eras in history.
