Summer Wedding Shoot: Cocktails and Creamy Daffodils

What can be said for the golden beauty of summer? With sunny days that stretch on forever and nights aglow with fireflies, it brings a joy like no other - and the creatives at Branch and Bloom couldn’t agree more. Inspired by new growth, new beginnings, soft palettes, sunlight warming your cheeks, and the gentle shedding of the heavier and richer tones of winter, this styled shoot was staged at a venue drenched in natural light and signalling a fresh season: The Glasshouse. “I love the space within The Glasshouse and have been dreaming up a hanging installation at the back doors for some time,” shared Carol from Branch and Bloom. “I have couples that are keen but, with all the postponed weddings, I could see this plan moving further and further away.” The hanging floral installation was the pivotal point of the shoot, a stunning pièce de résistance that allowed everything to bloom from a collection of statement-making florals and into a band of innovative vendors ready to showcase their talents. Katrina Cooke, the photographer, and The Glasshouse team were thrilled to be working with Branch and Bloom. “It was a vision I’d had for a while,” Carol told us. “Jayne from The Glasshouse quickly pulled in her other contacts and, before we knew it, we had a shoot. It was the easiest thing to pull together as everyone is such experts at what they do; it made for a seamless planning process.” The Glasshouse is a versatile space that served as the perfect blank canvas for their ideas. “We wanted to show an intimate cocktail wedding where people could stay at the venue for the entire time,” Carol said. “With some clever divisions created by hire plant screens, we were able to set up the ceremony area and a cocktail lounging area that felt spacious and summery yet still connected.” Flowing, natural and full of open air, they’ve breathed life into a styled shoot that celebrates the best things about summer, all warm blushes and breezes that hold you close. “Summer afternoon, summer afternoon,” were the wise words of Henry James. “To me, those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”
