We recently had our wedding at Songbird Retreat and it was absolutely magical! It had rained heavily for the 24 hours prior to the wedding, stopping only an hour before the ceremony. The venue is so well set up with drainage that the lawn wasn't wet and you wouldn't have known it had been raining.
The venue package comes with on the day wedding coordination by Samantha (weddings by Samantha). She was incredibly helpful in the led up to the wedding and made sure everything went smoothly on the day. We also had a lovely stay at the cottage onsite after the wedding. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone wanting a beautiful outdoor wedding!

After 13.5 years of being together, we decided to get married. We found Songbird Retreat online and as soon as we visited the venue we fell in love with the stunning, expansive grounds and especially the rosebush-lined walkway. The surroundings are breathtaking and the songbird magical.
We took advantage of photos in the eucalyptus tree that envelops you, for a really intimate moment. Photo opportunities are absolutely everywhere. Our only wish was that we had a big wedding to take advantage of all the grounds because the entire property is stunning.
Our wedding was very small and intimate and the area near the upper platform was just perfect for us. We were able to decorate the wooden arch and take advantage of the beautiful views.
Helen, our host, was just delightful and simply incredible to work with from the beginning. She bent over backwards to help make our day amazing. Communication was prompt and responsive and all the small details were taken care of for us. If you want a host that is generous and warm, Helen is the person for you. If you want a venue that is outdoor, exquisite and hidden away from the rest of the world, Songbird Retreat is just perfect.

Our daughter was married here on a bright sunny November day in 2025.
The venue did everything possible to help us have an incredibly relaxed, smooth and beautiful day. Whilst it was very hot and sunny, the trees and marquee supplied enough shade and a great backdrop for photos. No other location was used for pics as so often happens.
It is secluded enough to feel as though we were all that existed which is perfect for a wedding.
Expansive enough to spread out, but cosy enough to feel intimate.
Totally happy with the venue that exceeded our families expectations on the day and into the evening.
Couldn't ask for more. Thanks

What an amazing venue! My fiancé and I chose songbird for our elopement style wedding. It was the perfect venue for us and Helen and Dean made the process very easy.
It’s such an amazing spot only an hour drive from Auckland and the landscape is beautiful - making for lots of great photos!
The cottage is beautiful and such a gorgeous place to wake up in the morning.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a stunning outdoor venue whether it’s a small wedding like ours or a large event!

Absolutely beautiful venue, my husband and I had a intimate wedding of just 25 people at songbird retreat over easter weekend and it was just magical.
The gardens are beautifully manicured with stunning flowers, and the cottage accommodation and barn onsite are just perfect - we had our ceremony and reception there.
The venue owners Katherine and Adam are so lovely and they made everything so easy and relaxed in the lead up to the day. And they checked in on us when we arrived (plus left us a lovely card and bottle of bubbly to enjoy too!).
We would absolutely recommend songbird retreat for any type of wedding, big or small!

We got married at the Songbird Retreat and it was absolutely beautiful. We loved every second of being at the venue. The cicadas and the birds were the background music of last minute prep, sharing our vows, celebrating with our nearest and dearest and recovery! We felt like we had picked the perfect place to bring our two families together.
All the small details Adam and Katherine have thought of, are what makes the place and we are already looking forward to making more memories there in the future.

Songbird came to the rescue late on when our initial venue was washed out by the cyclone. It turned out to be the perfect day at an amazing venue where we received many compliments from our guests. Highly recommend!
