Organic Romance in an Industrial Setting

The soft shades of floral served to enhance the elegance and romance of the space – we used barely-there pinks, the gentlest shades of blush, and incorporated deeper shades of lilacs, mauves and even cerise for depth and drama. We used a variety of blooms and greenery to achieve an organic, wild garden feel, and carried this through to the bouquet and buttonholes. Nothing looked too “done” but rather – as if they had been freshly picked on a whim.
The drama of the floral arrangements and the venue itself meant that the rest of the décor needed to be simple and elegant, yet strong enough to hold its own in so much texture and with so much light filtering in. We selected clean white plates and glassware with defined silhouettes but offset them with pink handled cutlery for a touch of whimsy and of course – romance. Our bride and groom were dressed in a beautiful ball-gown style dress and tuxedo, with a focus on slick traditional tailoring for him. The bride's dress was romance personified – the barest blush overlaid with delicate white floral applique tumbling down the bodice and skirt. A full skirt with layers of tulle and clean lines on the bodice was evocative of days of yore. Slightly undone hair and the mismatched florals kept the outfits from getting stiffly formal. Finally, one of the standouts of the day was the cake. We hadn’t used much white in the décor and setting, as we wanted to achieve a fresh, airy look without being too harsh. The cake was a brilliant two-tiered display, and almost starkly simple with only white florals to decorate it.
