Mahaylia and Jordan

“Mahaylia and I met at the beginning of 2018. I had just moved up to Auckland from Hamilton into a little student hostel. She was a resident assistant at the hostel that year, so we ended up getting to know one another pretty quickly. Our friendship naturally turned into something more when we started dating a few months later. The proposal was pretty romantic, if I do say so myself. It was mid-summer when I proposed, just as the evening started. I spent the whole day with Mahaylia, giving her little clues and hints that led us to some significant spots from our relationship. The day itself was incredible; I couldn’t remember being happier. It was outside Raglan that I popped the question. Earlier in our relationship, I wrote a song for her, entitled ‘Forever,’ describing the way I fell for her. It’s been so special to us, and it felt right including that in my proposal to her. I’d say it’s one of our favourite memories of all time. She and I were keen on a springtime wedding, and we both knew we wanted to be married in a church. However, that’s all we really knew about what we wanted. Planning a wedding turned out to be a journey of discovery with one another as we figured out how to have a big day that was perfectly us.”
