Lidia and Nikita
Abel Estate

"After connecting on Bumble, we met at a bar and bonded over our mutual love for rock music.  We never stopped talking since."

What was the proposal like?

"We had a trip planned to Queenstown for my birthday in June. We went on a scenic helicopter ride that landed on a snowy mountain summit. I was oblivious and started walking away to take a video as the view was breathtaking. Nikita called me back, pulled me to the side next to the helicopter, and dropped down to one knee. I was so surprised and happy, I immediately said yes!

It was the best birthday surprise and I was totally unassuming!"

What is your favourite memory from the big day?

"Performing our first dance was a definite highlight! We practised it until 3 AM for a few nights prior as we were both born with two left feet! I don't know how I didn't mess it up, but it went smoothly and we had so much fun doing our funky dance."

What do you consider the best wedding investment you made?

"The venue was the best investment as almost everything was included. The staff at Abel Estate were incredible and made our day unforgettable. The wedding coordinator, Stephanie, was meticulous and attentive to detail, ensuring everything was perfectly timed and that we always had a drink in hand. We were absolutely taken aback by the fresh florals that were included in the package, carefully put together by Meghann from Go Flowers NZ. We wouldn't change a single thing!"

What is your #1 piece of wedding advice to couples planning their big day?

"We recommend starting wedding planning early and going with a venue that offers an all-inclusive package if possible. This made our lives so much easier as the venue already had good working relationships with the vendors, and we could put our complete trust in the amazing team!"
