Sym and Hanin

Photography by Kouki Photography

"Our wedding was a fusion of two beautiful but very different cultures - Palestinian and Chinese. Seeing our families unite, have fun together, and give us their utmost respect and blessings to celebrate our love. Now, that's a memory we will never forget!"

What was the proposal like?

"It was very traditional! Sym came to my parents to ask for my hand in marriage, and after getting both family's blessings, we had a traditional Islamic engagement ceremony at home with family."

Did you include anything non-traditional in your wedding?

"Sharing vows is not very traditional in Muslim, Palestinian and Chinese weddings. We decided we would love to incorporate this into our wedding to create a special memory for ourselves. Before all the guests arrived, we read our vows to each other in front of our immediate family, bridesmaids and groomsmen. It was very intimate and magical!"

What do you consider the best wedding investment you made?

"It's hard to pick one, but our top 3 priorities during wedding planning were:

- Our absolutely magical venue, Hedges Estate

- Our photographer Michael of Kouki Weddings

- Our videographer, Calvin, from Cinematic Creative Co

What is your #1 piece of wedding advice to couples planning their big day?

"No matter how much you plan, nothing will go 100% accordingly. Do the best you can, but don't sweat the small (or sometimes big!) stuff; appoint someone else to do the stressing for you. Prepare yourself mentally for things to go wrong and have the mindset that "nothing will bother me on the day; I will have the best time of my life no matter what." You got this!"
