Auckland Reception Venues for Weddings, proudly presented by Auckland Weddings. Choose from a wide range of Auckland's very best reception venues, including Mudbrick, Officers Mess, Hilton, Langham, Hotel DeBrett and more.
Choose your wedding date and then start looking. Auckland reception venues often book a year out and very popular venues may even be booked 18 - 24 months into the future (seriously!), so consider this when choosing your venue. Bear in mind that Saturdays in December, January, February and March are the most popular dates.
Set your budget. Your venue will likely be your biggest expense, at anywhere between $50 and $200 per guest. You’ll need to advise your venue of approximately how many guests you will be having at the reception in order for them to give an accurate quote. With this in mind, it’s important to prune your reception list to the exact number of people that you want there. Beyond that, some venues may offer optional extras which will add to the cost.
Indoor or Outdoor
Most Auckland wedding receptions are held indoors, but you may wish to have an outdoor reception. In summer it’s likely this will work out ok, but you’ll want to have a marquee or something similar as a backup plan - no date is guaranteed to give you perfect weather.
While most couples opt for the traditional sit down three course meal, you may like to explore options such as shared plates, a buffet, a cocktail party or even a market style meal with food trucks. Keep in mind that your guests will be with you for many hours, so no matter which option you choose, make sure there is plenty of food on offer.
If you’re having a traditional seated meal, seating can be quite tricky, so do make this a priority to sort out well in advance. Give special attention to elderly guests who may have trouble hearing speeches etc, as well as not wanting to be too close to the more boisterous guests, and also be sure to keep people who dislike one another seated at different tables!
Your guests may have dietary requirements such as being gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, dairy free and allergic to certain foods. Your venue or caterer will be able to accommodate these requests with plenty of notice.
